Taras van de Voorde, NL - Biography
Taras is your typical citizen of Rotterdam. “Townspeople who are not afraid to do things slightly different, especially when it comes to the architecture of Rotterdam.” Not really surprising that Van de Voorde’s creative, innovative sound is born in this impressive city. A development which has not gone unnoticed in the dance music industry the last few years.
A passion which started with dj gigs in the Rotterdam underground scene resulting in producing warm melodies, effective bass lines and crazy breaks. In 2008 Taras saw his productions being released on labels such as, Manual, Stolen Moments, Exceptional,MoodMusic and Armada.
After this breakthrough Taras released a series of EP’s and remixes on renowned labels as Defected, 100% Pure, Rebirth, EC, Noir, Monique Musique and Wolfskuil. In 2011 Van de Voorde booked big success with the dance floor killer hit 1998, follow up track The Game and his collaboration with Boris Ross Don’t Stop Us. The Game and Don’t Stop Us were both picked up by Pete Tong for his Essential Selection and supported by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Agoria and Luciano. 1998 was Pete Tong’s favorite tune in 2010.
Taras has built up his (inter)national reputation by playing at major clubs and festivals in Holland which include Awakenings, Welcome to the Future, Trouw, Perron, Doornroosje, Places which can be stamped in the passport of this creative geek are Barcelona, Berlin, London (Ministry of Sound & Egg Club), Manila, Antwerp, Ibiza(Pacha and Ushuaia) and Milan.
2013 sees the release of Taras’ new EP Manila/Hong Kong (EC Records). Hong Kong has reached the #6 spot in the influential DMC World Music Magazine Buzz Chart. Both tracks have also found support from a diverse cross-section of DJs like: Laurent Garnier, Gregor Tresher and Voyeur. This year Taras will bring a lot of fresh stuff into the clubs and festivals so watch out!
