Since picking it up nearly twenty years ago, Jacob Gurevitsch has steadily become synonymous with the Spanish guitar. Now something of a virtuoso, his characteristic works of mellow bliss and bittersweet longing are being heard by millions.
Blending styles of jazz, flamenco and Balearic, the Danish guitarist has a strong signature – a drop of Argentina, old Italian films, and early morning forest walks in Spain. The music speaks to a yearning for re-enchantment, for capturing a lost romance and poetry of life.
A guitarist since early childhood, Jacob Gurevitsch’ early career led him around the music world, playing with all sorts of different jazz and rock outfits. In 2002, when playing with Danish psychedelic group Savage Rose he was asked to take up the Spanish guitar. He quickly felt a fondness for its emotive sound and hasn’t looked back since.
Today, Jacob Gurevitsch resides on the Danish record label Music For Dreams, where he has released two full length albums, 2015’s Lovers in Paris and 2019’s In Search of Lost Time. His next LP is set to be released in 2021.
Having racked up millions of online streams, Jacob’s reputation has gone global in recent years. The more sun-soaked side of his productions has become a staple in the sets of Ibiza’s chill-out hours.
